It’s a NEW day for Downtown Pembroke

The Town of Pembroke is launching its downtown revitalization with the Union Chapel Road Phase I Improvements—featuring new brick sidewalks, upgraded lighting, utilities, and landscaping to create a safer, more welcoming space. This first phase coincides with the opening of the A.S. Thomas Center and marks the beginning of a series of downtown improvements.

Funded by a $5.2 million U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD grant—supplemented with town and NCDOT funds for a total of $6.69 million—the project enhances infrastructure, expands multi-modal transportation, and makes downtown Pembroke more pedestrian-friendly for residents and visitors alike.
